Platform For Art 6th August—16th September 2000 Kendra Haste—Underground Safari
A herd of rhinoceros, giraffe, elephant, oryx and vultures greeted travellers at Gloucester Road underground station. The life-size models are the creations of award-winning Putney-born artist, Kendra Haste. Sculptures crafted from wire, emphasised the strength and vitality of the animal subjects.
For the Gloucester Road exhibits, it took her six months to put together a corner of the jungle in 3D, using layered wire mesh to build up each animal. |
