Lighting Design House

Lighting & Art

The Lighting Design House team have a strong creative background and we embrace the opportunity to explore this and work on art projects and schemes either on our own “in house” directly working for the client or in collaboration with other artists to deliver stunning pieces which can either be illuminated or have the lighting integrated within the piece.

For over 7 years LDH has also worked with London Underground on the implementation and delivery of the ambitious Platform for Art programme. This involves using redundant but highly visible spaces on the “Tube” as a public Art Gallery. A major part of this work has been the series of sculpture and art exhibitions on Gloucester Road Station. Over the years we have designed the lighting for over 30 exhibitions, all with different artists and artwork using glass, metal and plaster – materials that conform with LU’s stringent safety requirements relating to fire safety.

To date the year 2001-2002 has been the most successful year for the Gloucester Road exhibitions with 3 major award nominations and a whole host of magazine articles,  on the following pages are a small selection of some of the artists and exhibitions from past years along with some other examples of projects we have been involved with.
